The current offering for Spiritual Formation during the week at the Community Presbyterian Church is a reading through and reflecting on The Acts of the Apostles, the second volume of Luke’s contribution to the Bible.
Following on the heels of the Gospel Luke composed, the author introduces us to the beginning of and development of the early Christian Church. Like with the Gospel, Luke utilized material from a number of early Christian sources, presenting it with a variety of literary techniques, to proclaim the mighty acts of God. Another of the author’s
special interests, controlling the selection and presentation of details, was to show the activity of the Holy Spirit in the founding and development of the Church.
In fact, the book might appropriately be entitled “The Acts of the Holy Spirit.”
The study is held on Tuesday evenings at 7pm and on Thursday afternoons at 3pm at CPC and will continue until the end of June.
